Shane Lowry leads 2016 US Open: Round 3 video highlights

Ireland’s Shane Lowry has put himself into prime position to win his first major championship.

Shane Lowry will take a two shot lead into the final day of the 2016 that may see a first time major winner hoisting the trophy.

Lowry heads a list of seven players atop of the leaderboard who have yet to win a major championship including a number of players who have come close on a few previous occasions including Dustin Johnson, Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia and Branden Grace.

First round leader Andrew Landry is proving the doubters wrong by playing great, composed golf to sit in second place behind Lowry.

Australian Jason Day carded a fantastic third round 66 to storm into contention just five shots behind Lowry.

Day and Grace will have the added advantage that they managed to complete their rounds before darkness halted play on Saturday. Most of the leaders will needed to complete their third rounds early on Sunday morning before returning to the golf course in the afternoon for their final rounds.

A full sleep, combined with a morning of preparation will be perfect for Day to attempt to chase down the leaders on Sunday.
