5 great golf podcasts you should be listening to

There is no shortage of golf podcasts to listen to; but here are some of our favourites.

Golf podcasts have been a thing for a while now but it seems that in the past couple of years, they’ve multiplied with plenty of great listening on offer. They’re a wonderful source of news and discussion on the latest hot topics in golf but with so many out there now, where do you start?

If I had just one criticism of many of the golf podcasts it’s that their often a little too long. If I had my way, I’d listen to every golf podcast, every week. But with limited time and many of them running longer than an hour, it’s hard to find time for all of them.

I thought I’d list five golf podcasts that I try to listen to each week – and not surprisingly most of them are Australian golf podcasts (hey, this is Aussie Golfer!). If you’ve got a long commute, or you just want to make sure you’re across all the latest Australian golf topics for the week these are the golf podcasts you should be listening to right now.

INSIDE THE ROPES

Golf Australia launched this podcast earlier in the year and its become one of our must-listen to podcasts every week. Host Andy Maher is joined by Golf Australia’s Mark Hayes along with a selection of other great golf minds including Martin Blake and Michael Clayton. Already this year the team have chatted to Scott Hend, Jarrod Lyle, Marc Leishman and covered a huge range of golf topics from across the country and the globe.

ISEEKGOLF PODCAST
There is a wealth of golf experience and knowledge over at the relatively new iseekgolf podcast. Hosted by Rod Morri, Adrian Logue and Bruce Young, this is a perfect way to keep up to date with the latest in golf. The commentary and opinion on offer here is always interesting and insightful, making it a must-listen every week.

CHASING BIRDIES
Opening with a thumping David Guetta track, Chasing Birdies is hosted by former Australian tour players Mark Allen and Craig Spence and a great listen each week. Strictly speaking you could argue Chasing Birdies isn’t a podcast as it’s a weekly program on SEN Radio. But these guys really know their golf AND every show is available online each week – so that’s a golf podcast in our eyes. And ears.

STATE OF THE GAME
State of the Game is one of the oldest running golf podcasts going around, and one of our favourites. State of the Game often features Mike Clayton, Geoff Shackelford and John Huggan and covers a huge range of topics from the world of golf including the latest golf talking points, golf architecture. While not as frequent as some of the other podcasts, it’s easier to find time to catch-up on an old episode you’ve missed.

SHACKHOUSE
American golf writer Geoff Shackelford and Joe House teamed up to launch this golf podcast series over a year ago and it’s still going strong. Shackelford at the very least is always great to listen to and as insightful as anyone in golf. If you want to make sure you haven’t missed anything from the PGA Tour, then this is the podcast for you.

+1 BEYOND THE GREENS
Since writing this piece we’ve had a few people recommend this very new Australian podcast. Beyond The Greens is hosted by three good friends and self-confessed golf nuts and already have a great stack of podcasts under their golf belt.
