Phil Mickelson dismisses complaint about The Match with an f-bomb and a $100 note

Country music cinger and golf fan Jake Owen has explained how he wasn’t happy with paying $29.99 for the sub-par made-for-TV event The Match played between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

For those who paid to see it, The Match was generally deemed to be a bit of a fizzer with Mickelson winning with a birdie on the 22nd hole.

On the BarStool Sports Foreplay podcast, Owen explains on the that he saw Mickelson at Jordan Spieth’s wedding and decided to go and vent about the poor golf played during The Match and wanted his money back, complete with expletives.

“So I walked over to him, I was like, Hey Phil, you owe me f***ing $29.99 for wasting four hours of my life with the shittiest golf I’ve ever seen,” Owen said.

“You guys hype this whole thing up about the big match? You guys couldn’t even make three birdies between the two of you? I want my $29.99 and apologize to me for some shit golf!”

Owen then says Mickelson replied by pulling out a wad of notes from his pocket.

“I won 90,000 of these things yesterday. Take a 100 and go f— yourself!”

Mickelson’s response was then confirmed by Mickelson himself on Twitter. See below.
