McIlroy and Wozniacki get engaged in Sydney

Rory McIlroy returned to Sydney for New Years Eve – and got engaged to Caroline Wozniacki.

During his Australian Open winning speech last month Rory McIlroy let slip he was to be back in Australia to celebrate New Years Eve in Sydney.

What he didn’t say was that he was planning on asking his longtime girlfriend and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki for her hand in marriage. He tweeted the news to everyone on New Years Day.

Some golf fans have debated whether this means McIlroy is set for a good (or bad) year on the golf course. All I can say is that he’s got some pretty fond memories of Sydney now and you can block out any future majors (golf and tennis) for potential wedding dates.
