Tiger Woods wins eighth time at Torrey Pines
Tiger Woods’ love affair with Torrey Pines continued this morning when he won the Farmers Insurance Open by four shots.
A Monday finish saw Tiger Woods win for an eighth time at Torrey Pines. The victory at the Farmers Insurance Open was his 75th PGA Tour victory, seven short of Sam Snead’s all time record.
The final round was marred by slow play which Woods blamed for a poor finish. With five holes to play, Woods had opened up an eight shot lead over the rest of the field but dropped four shots over the final holes including a double bogey on the par-4 15th hole.
“It got a little ugly toward the end,” Woods said. “I started losing patience a little bit with the slow play. I lost my concentration a little bit.”
It was painfully slow. Woods’ group of three took three hours and 45 minutes to complete 11 holes.
The victory will be a confidence boost for Woods as he begins 2013 despite many other top players skipping the event in San Diego. Woods still doesn’t look completely comfortable over his tee shots but everything else looks very good. Good enough for another US Masters title in April perhaps?
