Golfer’s mum wades into water to retrieve discarded putter: video
Players and golf fans were stunned as the mother of a player waded into the water to rescue his discarded putter.
The mother of Chinese golfer Haotong Li was intent on retrieving her son’s putter after he had thrown it into the hazard during the opening round of the European Tour’s Open de France.
After wading into the water the woman got a rude shock as she pulled the putter out. Tyrell Hatton and Thomas Pieters’ reactions nearby are hilarious.
At the time no one realised who the woman was but Haotong Li confirmed after his round that it was his mother. Li putted with his sand wedge for the rest of the round and signed off for an even par round that included three bogeys. Not surprisingly, one of them came at the 11th.
Bad day for me but tomorrow is another day!
