This six-putt by Thomas Detry is the stuff of golf nightmares

In a forgettable performance at the Cognizant Classic, PGA Tour golfer Thomas Detry endured a disastrous day, marked by a six-putt meltdown on the sixth hole that resulted in a quadruple-bogey eight.

The Belgian golfer, facing the possibility of missing the cut, reached the green in two but struggled with a 57-foot putt, ultimately needing six attempts to find the cup.

The collapse began with a missed five-foot par putt and unfolded further as frustration took hold. Detry’s struggles led to a 9-over 80 for the round, placing him at 11-over for the week and securing the last spot on the leaderboard.

Detry’s misfortune did not go unnoticed, with DP World Tour pro Pablo Larrazabal taking to Twitter to playfully mock the six-putt debacle.

We can’t help but wonder what his playing partner Stephan Jaegar was thinking through all this. Jaegar was watching nearby waiting to line up his next putt and likely seeing the hole a lot smaller than it was a minute or so earlier.
