Cigar Guy in Tiger Woods photo has been unmasked

Last week we showed the greatest golf photo of the year taken at the Ryder Cup and mentioned the phenomenon of the ‘Cigar Guy’ that swept the internet soon after.

You see, ‘Cigar Guy’ was standing in the background of the photograph and became more famous than the photo itself. Soon, he was added to many more famous photos which you can see examples of below.

The Daily Mail did the detective work and it turns out he is just some quiet, unassuming guy from South London who still lives with his mum.

Rupesh Shingadia laments the loss of real characters in the sport and so donned the wig (with ponytail), moustache and cigar as a tribute to Miguel Angel Jimenez.

“I wanted to do something to show my support for the European team and I thought of Miguel. These days sportsmen have become devoid of character. But Miguel does his own thing and I love the way he walks around the course with a cigar clamped between his teeth.”, he told the Daily Mail.

His friends say he would be the last person they would have thought to dress like this and Rupesh said he would have had second thoughts if had he known the fuss it would cause.

Rupesh may not be single and living with Mum much longer as he has been inundated with marriage proposals.
