Rory McIlroy ruptures ankle tendon playing soccer; in doubt for The Open Championship
Rory McIlroy’s defence of his Open Championship looks in jeopardy.
The world’s number one golfer Rory McIlroy has ruptured an ankle ligament playing soccer just two weeks before The Open Championship tees off at St.Andrews.
McIlroy broke the news by posting a photo of himself in a moon-boot and on crutches on his Instagram and Facebook feeds and his defence of his Open Championship title now looks in jeopardy.
Time will tell if McIlroy can tee it up in the first round of The Open Championship at St.Andrews on Thursday July 16. IT’s now looking extremely unlikely.
