Rory McIlroy bolts home to claim US$18m and a third FedExCup Trophy
Rory McIlroy has surged past Scottie Scheffler to win the season-ending TOUR Championship and claim his third FedEx Cup Trophy.
A final round 4-under 66 was enough for Rory McIlroy to edge past world number one Scottie Scheffler and take the US$18m prize.
McIlroy’s final round included six birdies and an electrifying birdie putt at the par-3 15th hole to take the lead.
Scheffler led for all but two holes of the tournament but a closing 3-over par was the equal worst round of the day and fell into a tie for second place alongside South Korea’s Sungjae Im.
An appended video highlights package is below that somehow completely misses the drama of the closing holes.
