Phil Mickelson plays a remarkable flop shot: video
“I could describe it, but nobody is going to understand that.”
Phil Mickelson played a very Phil Mickelson-like back nine at the Deutsche Bank Championship yesterday; some horrible golf shots mixed in with some moments of sheer brilliance.
One of these moments of brilliance was this remarkable flop shot from an awful lie on the par-3 11th hole at TPC Boston.
Mickelson somehow had the courage (or stupidity) to make a full swing at his golf ball. The ball popped out with a ridiculous amount of spin on it, landed past the hole and sucked back to within a few feet.
The crowd went wild and playing partners Adam Scott and Tiger Woods were also impressed with the shot. But let’s hear what Mickelson had to say about it:
“I could describe it, but nobody is going to understand that,” said Mickelson.
“It was a really good shot…I’ve not seen anybody else hit that shot, to be able to spin it back from that distance and lob it. It sure looks good.”
