2016 Oates Vic Open tees off at Thirteenth Beach; Karrie Webb press conference video

One of the world’s most unique golf tournaments has teed off this morning at Thirteenth Beach Golf Club featuring one of the world’s greatest golfers.

In a sign that the Oates Victorian Open is growing each year, Webb signed on to be a part of the event that features both s men’s and women’s tournament run at the same time. The unique format male professionals from PGA Tour of Australasia joined on course by their female counterparts as the ALPG’s Women’s Victorian Open is played concurrently.

From the official press release:

The concept is unique to golf and as such draws interest from plenty of high profile players. This year Richard Green is back to defend his title and if he does manage to go back-to-back he will be rewarded with an even bigger prize cheque with the prize money increased to $300,000 for each of the men’s and the women’s Championships.

Also drawn to the seaside holiday town for the Oates Women’s Vic Open is Australia’s second highest ranked female Professional and seven time Major champion, Karrie Webb.

The weekend action will be live-streamed through the official Vic Open tournament website, and check out here for all Oates Vic Open live scores.

You may recall, this is where Richard Green holed-out for albatross prior to the event last year (see video below). If you’re down around the Bellarine Peninsula, get on down to check out this event. At the very least, you’ll see one of the greatest ever golfers play the game.
