LAST CHANCE: Share feedback on Moore Park Golf’s future

Public golf under threat. There isn’t much time left to have your say on the future of Moore Park Golf.

It’s hard not to feel like the proposed closure of 9-holes at Moore Park Golf feels attack on golf rather than any rational decision.

With an abundance of parklands around the golf course that could have been transformed into a park space, it’s hard to see why Moore Park Golf was targeted other than a hatred for the game itself.

In fact, quoting from the fact page at the Save Moore Park Golf Course site;

Moore Park golf course occupies only 12% of the 360ha of thee Centennial and Moore Park precinct.  Immediately around the golf course there is Kippax Lake, Upper Kippax, Tramway Oval, Moore Park, Moore Park Bat & Ball Oval (combined about 35 hectares) all of which could have been developed ahead of the golf course.

The lack of consultation with Golf Australia, Moore Park Golf and the wider public golf community has been astonishing. This quote from the latest “Save Moore Prk Golf” video below, stood out for me:

“If you’re proposing to make more room for a park, then at least work with us and allow us to have an 18-hole golf course.”

There are less than 24 hours until the feedback period on the future of Moore Park Golf closes and there have been a few last-minute pleas from those trying hard to keep an important part of Australian golf in its current state.

We replicate the email here and encourage you to have your say ASAP.

To our Moore Park Golf community,

This is your last chance to submit feedback to Greater Sydney Parklands around the future of Moore Park Golf. The feedback period will close on the 10th of April.

In February, discussion papers were released from the NSW government around what this could look like and opened consultation up to the public.

The document shared details about Moore Park South, which is a proposal to convert 20 hectares of Moore Park Golf to a new park. The areas of Moore Park Golf that would remain include a 9-hole course, driving range and the clubhouse.

As a valued member of the Moore Park Golf community, the government is inviting feedback on the proposed development to ensure all voices are heard. All feedback is extremely valuable in helping shape the recreational space.

You are welcomed to have your say here by April 10.
