Golfer scores incredible 61 Stableford points at Maroochy River

A Stableford score of 43-points was still 18 points behind the winner in the comp at Maroochy River Golf Club on Monday.

The Courier Mail’s Jim Tucker has reported one seriously electric round of golf.

Playing in his first club competition in 8 years at Maroochy River Golf Club, 23-year-old Kye McWaters carded an incredible 61 Stableford points off a handicap of 30.

“I was super nervous on the first tee in my first comp for eight years and three-putted that hole.”

McWaters doesn’t want flak about his handicap to ruin his best golfing experience.

“I’ve never played that well ever before and my short game just clicked,” he said.

You have to feel for Maroochy River regulars like Steve Maybury. He compiled an excellent 43-point score for third but was 18 points off top spot.
