Day withdraws from The Open
Keep your Jason Day money in your pocket for a while. He has withdrawn from The Open Championship to spend time with his newborn son.
Jason Day is now a proud father. His wife Ellie gave birth to a boy a few days ago, Dash James Day. He has opted to miss next week’s Open Championship at Royal Lytham in favour of spending time with the family.
In other news, Marc Leishman has acquired a visa to get to The Open after qualifying courtesy of leading the money list, thanks largely to his win at The Travelers Championship a few weeks ago.
Ben Everill has the low down and all the details.

I’m happy for Jason and Ellie. He has made a sensible decision. $$$ are not an issue and he’ll have another twenty or so years to play in the Open Championship. I don’t doubt he will win one too.
