Bowditch on winning the Byron Nelson: “Just run outta money”.

Steven Bowditch speaks with the press following his victory at the Byron Nelson.

Steven Bowditch’s victory at the AT&T Byron Nelson was special enough without any extra details but one amazing extra bit of information was that Steven Bowditch was married at the TPC Four Season Resort four years ago and had wedding photos taken of him and his wife on the 18th green.

“You know, taking photos on the green today was probably the second best time I’ve had on that green — since we got married,” Bowditch said.

Bowditch clearly hasn’t lost his dry sense of humour. When asked about winning after his recent poor form, one journalist wondered whether he had changed any particular aspect of his game.

“No. Just run out of money. It’s basically the way my career has been my whole life. You know, I guess when it’s good, it’s good and when it’s not, I’m just trying to hang on and make some cuts and get better and better. You know, it’s the game of golf. I’m obviously not at the superstar level. I just go out there and do my best and hopefully every now and again I get a chance to win.”

Bowditch has now jumped into the top-70 ranked golfers in the world and becomes the third Australian to win the Byron Nelson in eight years, joining Adam Scott and Jason Day.
