Webb wins Ladies European Masters to make it 54 professional victories
Karrie Webb makes it win number three in 2013 by winning the Ladies European Masters.
Karrie Webb made in three wins in 2013 overnight after winning the Ladies European Masters by one shot. Webb began the day three shots behind the leaders but four birdies and an eagle on the front nine saw Webb eyeing victory with just the back nine to negotiate at Buckinghamshire Golf Club in Denham, England.
Webb knocked in another eagle at the par-5 14th hole to take a solid lead, finally settling for a 7-under par 65 final round. South African Ashleigh Simon and German Caroline Masson needed a birdie on the final hole to force a playoff but neither succeeded in doing so handing Webb her 54th career victory.
“I’m very happy with how I played this week and I got more and more confident on the course as the week went on,” Webb said.
“I hadn’t played the par fives particularly well this week but today I played them well with two eagles. It’s a great boost when conditions are tough.”
Webb’s form is looking ominous ahead of this week’s RICOH Women’s British Open being held at St.Andrews Old Course, an event Webb won in 2002.
