European stars have confirmed for the 2016 Perth International at Lake Karrinyup.
The 2016 Perth International at Lake Karrinyup Country Club (25-28 February) is shaping up with a few big names in the field including title-holder Thorbjorn Olesen, Victor Dubuisson and world number 18 Louis Oosthuizen.
The Perth International is flying under the radar a little after shifting from its previous date in October. But it should attract a stronger field than in previous years with the February date following tournaments in Asia and the Middle East.
From today’s press release:
The 2016 Perth International is pleased to confirm that Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen will return to Lake Karrinyup Country Club to defend his title from 25-28 February, 2016.
His win in Perth marked his second victory on the European Tour and he has since added a third title at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews last October.
“I have some great memories from my last visit to Perth and am really looking forward to defending my title at Lake Karrinyup,” commented Olesen.
French Ryder Cup star, Victor Dubuisson, who finished runner-up to Olesen in 2014 has also committed to play. Dubuisson was another winner on the European Tour last October, securing his second Turkish Airlines Open in the past three years. He is currently No.7 on the 2016 Race to Dubai Rankings.
“I made a good run at Thorbjorn in the final round last time, so hopefully I can go one better this time around. Lake Karrinyup is a wonderful course and I look forward to getting back there,” said Dubuisson.
The tournament is tri-sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia, European Tour and Asian Tour and has a prize purse of $1,750,000. Tickets for the Perth International start from $22 and are available through Ticketmaster. Children under 16 will gain free entry with a paying adult.
