Scottie Scheffler makes history with dramatic win at PLAYERS Championship: video highlights

A dramatic final hole sees Scottie Scheffler win again and heartbreak for Wyndham Clark at TPC Sawgrass.

Scottie Scheffler made history at The PLAYERS Championship by becoming the first golfer to record back-to-back victories at TPC Sawgrass. Battling a nagging neck injury, Scheffler’s started the day by five shots back and stormed home delivering a final-round 64 to secure the title and a $4.5 million prize.

“It’s pretty special. It’s tough enough to win one PLAYERS,” Scheffler remarked. “So to have it back-to-back is extremely special.”

With Scheffler in the clubhouse at 20-under par for the tournament, Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark and overnight leader Xander Schauffle needed a birdie on the final hole to force a playoff.

After Harman and Schauffele missed their unlikely birdie attempts, Clark’s putt from the front of the green looked destined for the hole before it violently lipped out back in the direction from which it came.

“It was coming with some speed. I don’t know how that putt doesn’t go in,” Clark later said.

And few would disagree. It’s hard to see how this never finished in the bottom of the hole. In fact at one point, the majority of the golf ball was below the lip of the hole before it jumped back out.
