The match-up’s for the opening foursomes of the 2012 Ryder Cup were announced this morning at the opening ceremony and there as some mouth-watering matches ahead (Australian TV Times).
Match 1: Jim Furyk – Brandt Snedeker vs. Rory McIlroy – Graeme McDowell
Match 2: Phil Mickelson – Keegan Bradley vs. Luke Donald – Sergio Garcia
Match 3: Zach Johnson – Jason Dufner vs. Lee Westwood – Francesco Molinari
Match 4: Steve Stricker – Tiger Woods vs. Justin Rose – Ian Poulter
The opening pairing of McIlroy and McDowell on the European team look like a fierce first up team and Europe are obviously hoping to take as much of the crowd advantage out of the event early with a win from these two.
Stricker and Woods are considered the US Team’s best pairing but don’t have quite the great record as we are lead to believe. This final match will obviously go some way in determining which team has the lead going into the afternoon fourball matches.
