Rory McIlroy makes first hole-in-one as a professional: video
During the second round of the 2015 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, Rory McIlroy achieved something he’s never done before – making a hole-in-one as a professional golfer.
McIlroy holed a 9-iron at the par-3 15th hole – his first since he turned professional.
“It was a perfect number, straight downwind 177 yards, and it took a nice little hop to the right, so obviously the beers are on me tonight,” McIlroy said.
“It wasn’t one of my goals for the year but it’s a nice little bonus.”
And yes, a 9-iron from 177 yards.
