Rory McIlroy hits a bad left-handed shot, but still makes par: video

Rory McIlroy made sure Bubba Watson was watching his left-handed golf shot. Then stuffed it up.

The Grand Slam of Golf was held this week. It’s that golf ‘tournament’ that nobody really cares too much about, and features the four major winners for the year playing off against one another in Bermuda – for a pink jacket.

Adam Scott won it last year and this year Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer, Bubba Watson and Jim Furyk* are trying to win it this year.

The golfers are mic’d up for the event which does make for some interesting viewing and we got to hear McIlroy’s comments on playing a left-handed shot at the par-5 17th hole at the Port Royal Golf Course.

He makes sure that the left-handed Masters champion Bubba Watson is watching and then goes and makes a mess of the left-handed recovery shot by the water hazard.

What he didn’t make a mess of though was the rest of the hole. He fired his approach shot just right of the green and chipped in for par.

For the record, Martin Kaymer now sports a pink jacket after beating Bubba Watson in a playoff.

*I’m assuming Jim Fuyrk was the best of the rest who wanted to make up the four as McIlroy won two of the four majors in 2014.
