RIP Barry Rhodes; blogger, author, rules of golf guru

One of the great things about starting this website back in 2007 is the fantastic people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, working with and sometimes just simply just being in contact with via email – all with a mutual love of the game of golf.

One of those people was Barry Rhodes and I was sad to learn of his death earlier today.

Although I never met Barry, he was one of the first people I chatted with when I started this site. We often emailed back and forth about any queries I had (and was writing about) concerning rules of golf and Barry would often kindly point out any mistakes I’d made with some of them.

Barry authored a number of books including “999 Questions on the Rules of Golf”, made numerous video explanations on the rules and was always happy to respond to any questions. By all accounts a lovely man.

It is with great sadness that we let you know that Barry Rhodes passed away on Friday, 21st September 2018. While he was a man of many interests, golf was one of his great passions both for the game itself and the friendships it led to. Sharing the rules of golf through his books and online brought Barry great joy. We thank all of you who he engaged with him. May he rest in peace.

I extend my condolences to Barry’s friends and family at this time.
