It’s that time of year when the best professional golfers are tackling some of the great links courses across the UK and Ireland.
And with The Open just around the corner, here is a reminder of the sort of trouble you can get into in some of the pot bunkers on these great courses.
Patrick Reed was the unlucky beneficiary of a fried egg lie in the greenside bunker at the par-3 12th hole at Gullane Golf Club during the Scottish Open.
Taking on the bunker face, Reed’s first shot ricocheted back into the bunker into another poor lie. Reed’s second bunker shot didn’t fair miuch better before producing a fine third shot to eventually “escape” with a double-bogey.
