Overcoming the yips: video
I’ve been meaning to post this for a few weeks, but I get all jittery just thinking about it.
Here is a short video looking at the worst of all golf’s diseases, the yips. It comes courtesy of The Golf Show (Tuesdays at 7:30pm on FoxSports 1). If you don’t watch it, you should.
Here, host Brett Ogle gives us a personal account of dreaded yips. His description of his thoughts over the final putt for his first PGA Tour victory, is gut-wrenching. He goes on to chat to a sports psychologist who gives an account of the symptoms and how one goes about trying to cure them.
If I had to wear the jumper Ogle was wearing at Pebble Beach I’d probably get the yips too.

Very interesting video. I haven’t suffered from the yips before but can see how it has an enormous effect on golfers judging by that brain waive activity.
Amazing to hear how it works it’s way back to the rest of your game. My putting was never any good, then my chipping and now my driving is horrible, so it’s all my putters fault! 🙂
Also interesting that Brett’s brainwave went crazy just hitting a few chips to a practice green.
Its all in their heads, combination of anxiety and fear taking over what should be a straight forward putt or chip
