Min Woo Lee joins Tiger Woods’ primetime TV indoor golf league

The Golf League is the upcoming indoor, made-for-TV, golf series and Australian Min Woo Lee has been asked to jump on board.

Australia’s Min Woo Lee claimed his third professional victory after a two-stroke victory at the Macau Open last week and fronted the media ahead of this week’s ZOZO Championship in Japan.

Lee is almost sure to be offered a full-time spot on the PGA Tour next year and also expressed his excitement at being invited to play in the brand new, primetime TV, The Golf League (TGL)0

“Look at the roster, it’s crazy. It seems like everyone and then there’s me. I’m trying to do my best and compete with these guys,” Lee told reporters. “These guys, obviously major champions and best in the world.”

Golf Australia Magazine’s Mat Cleary reported that Lee joins 19 other professional golfers in the new league including fellow Australian Adam Scott.

Lee said he’ll try to “bring a bit of my fun personality and hopefully I can play some good golf there, too.”

“I really like that type of format, a team event. I’m not sure what team I’ll be on but yeah, I’ll be really excited. Hope I can get a couple of big boys and we end up winning,” Lee said.

The recruitment of Lee means there are now 20 professionals signed to the tech-based golf league that’s a counter to the Saudi PIF-backed LIV Golf.

Along with McIlroy and Woods, other top-ranked golfers committed to play include Adam Scott, John Rahm, Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas.

According to reports, TGL will be made up of six teams of four players with three playing for a team in any given match.

According to the TGL website, Lee will soon be added to one of six teams, four of which have already been acquired some large corporate orginaisations and famous, wealthy athletes including the Boston Red Sox, Venus and Serena Williams and Michelle Wie West.

Team names, brands, front office staff and assigned players for TGL season one will be unveiled later this year, as will the inaugural schedule and other operational elements of TGL presented by SoFi. Currently four of six team ownership groups have been announced:

    • Atlanta Drive GC: led by Arthur M. Blank, AMB Sports and Entertainment (Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, PGA TOUR Superstores)
