Jason Day has become our top sports earner according to the latest annual Forbes rich list of athletes.
The world number one golfer has overtaken Andrew Bogut as Australia’s top-earner on a list that his topped by footballers Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Forbes’ list of The World’s Highest Paid Athletes lists Jason Day at #69, earning an estimated US$15.1 million in winnings in the past 12-months and $8.5 million in endorsements.
Day is not close being the world’s highest paid golfer with Phil Mickelson listed in 8th place winning ‘just’ $2.9 million but earning an estimated $50 million off the golf course.
Jordan Spieth is ranked just behind Mickelson in 9th place, an ailing Tiger Woods in 12th spot and Rory McIlroy in 17th position.
