Jason Day will take a four-stroke lead going into the final round of the 2016 PLAYERS Championship.
Things got a little out of hand on the greens at TPC Sawgrass on Saturday as a miscalculation by ground staff ended in chaos on the greens.
Jason Day managed to avoid a lot of the carnage carding a 1-over par 73 that included a superb chip-in to save par at the 15th. To give you some idea of how difficult scoring was, Day’s round was on of the best scores of the day.
After plenty of the birdies on the opening two days, tournament officials clearly wanted faster greens to combat the low scoring but it backfired when balls were rolling off the greens – after a putt.
The day was probably best summed up by Sergio Garcia’s issues at the ninth hole. Five putting from six feet.
