Golf Australia Magazine lists Australia’s best long par-4s
Don’t pretend you don’t love a highly debatable golf list. Here is one on Australia’s best two-shot golf holes.
Fun stuff here as Golf Australia Magazine editor Brendan James and the top-100 courses team lists Australia’s best long par-4 golf holes. Meaning, the best two-shot golf holes in Australia, the ones that definitely can’t be reached in two.
Some might shudder to think the 8th at Barnbougle Dunes as even considered a par-4 considering some of the scores that have no doubt been racked up on that hole.
And it also makes us lament the glory days of the Coolum Resort golf course when reading the description of the par-4 9th at what is now the Palmer Coolum Resort.
Once the best and most memorable finishing hole in Australian tournament golf now features in the middle of a round. The Robert Trent Jones Jnr design is reminiscent of many of the Tournament Players Club courses in the United States, where water stretches nearly all its entire length and the green is positioned hard against the lake.
And I’ve just learned what a Bitou Bush is after reading the description of the 14th at Belmont. Turns out it’s considered a weed.
It makes me want to go check out all the holes I haven’t played yet.
