Ernie Els withdraws from 2015 Australian Masters at Huntingdale
Ernie Els won’t be coming to Australia, but Paul Lawrie and Nicolas Colsaerts will.
Golf Australia have reported that Ernie Els has withdrawn from the Uniqlo Australian Masters which tees off next week at Huntingdale Golf Club (Nov 19-22).
In a huge, and very last-minute blow for organisers, Els has regretfully withdrawn in favour of family time. The news means that Adam Scott will headline the tournament that returns to Huntingdale for the first time since 2008.
Meanwhile, the Emirates Australian Open has added two Ryder Cup stars to its field.
Scotsman Paul Lawrie and Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts will tee it up in the 100th staging of the Australian Open, at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney, November 26 – 29. Along with Jordan Spieth, Adam Scott, Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke and loads of big name Australian players in the field, the tournament looks set to be a beauty.
The duo of Lawrie and Colsaerts add a wealth of experience to the field and will not only have their eyes on the Stonehaven Cup, but a spot in next year’s Open Championship – awarded to the top-3 in the field not already qualified.
