Zunic and Bland upstage big names at Australian PGA Championship / Round one video highlights

Sergio Garcia and Marc Leishman were upstaged by a couple of lesser known Australians on the opening day of the 2017 Australian PGA Championship at Royal Pines.

Adam Bland and Jordan Zunic have stolen some of the limelight from the more well-known golfers on the opening fay of the 2017 Australian PGA Championship at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast

Zunic holed a pitch shot for eagle on the par-5 ninth hole to finish his day at 6-under par 66 just moments after Adam Bland got into the clubhouse on the same number after a bogey on his final hole the par-4 18th.

A trip to Australia wouldn’t be complete without meeting some of the locals and while on the Gold Coast for the Australian PGA Championship, Sergio and Angela Garcia got up close to some Australian wildlife.

Visiting Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, the Garcia’s met a koala, wedge tail eagle, a python, visited the kangaroos and handfed a family of rosellas.

Marc Leishman honoured with Greg Norman Medal

World Number 13 Marc Leishman has been bestowed Australian golf’s most prestigious individual honour; the Greg Norman Medal.

Australia’s best performing, male or female, golfer on the international stage in 2017, Leishman won the coveted award following in the footsteps of Jason Day who won the Greg Norman Medal in 2015 and 2016.

Sergio Garcia set for Australian PGA Championship debut

Masters Champion Sergio Garcia returns to Australia after seven years to make his debut in the Australian PGA Championship at RACV Royal Pines Resort from 30 November – 3 December.

The World Number 11 last played a tournament Down Under in 2010 in the Australian Masters where he finished just inside the top-30.

Golf is back on free-to-air this week with Channel 7 covering the Australian PGA Championship from Royal Pines on the Gold Coast.

Channel 7 will once again be broadcasting live, free-to-air golf this week with coverage of the Australian PGA Championship beginning at 12pm (through to 5pm) Australian Eastern Daylight Savings time.

Leishman Gold Coast bound to celebrate at the Australian PGA Championship

Australia’s most in-form player, Marc Leishman has confirmed he will compete at the Australian PGA Championship from 30 November to 3 December.

Adam Scott will double the number of Masters Champions in the field at the Australian PGA Championship when it tees off on the Gold Coast later this year.

Scott today announced that he will play in his home town tournament alongside good mate Sergio Garcia when the event tees off at RACV Royal Pines Resort from 30 November – 3 December.

Sergio Garcia has confirmed his appearance at the Australian PGA Championship at Royal Pines RACV Royal Pines Resort (30 November to 3 December) that will see the Spaniard play his first tournament in Australia since 2010 when he played the Australian Masters.
