Big names for Australian summer of golf

There’s been a lot said about the state of professional golf in Australia at the moment. The Australian professionals are doing well in all parts of the globe but the home tour is a shade of its former self.

Aussie Golfer is starting to think a lot of the criticism is coming from sporting analysts who really don’t follow golf much. If you look at some of the names in each of the tournaments listed in the golf calendar, things are looking very good. If you don’t recognise them, you just don’t follow the tours enough. Get out there and watch these guys play!

Here’s a list of the big tournaments in Australia this summer and just a small selection of the local and international names in each field. Starting with next week’s Australian Masters at Huntingdale:

Australian Masters (Melbourne): Michael Campbell, Tim Clark, John Daly, Daniel Chopra, Stuart Appleby
Australian PGA (Coolum): Geoff Ogilvy, Paul Goydos, Robert Allenby, Adam Scott, Peter Lonard
Australian Open (Sydney): Darren Clarke, Mathew Goggin, Richard Green, Brendan Jones, Danny Lee
