Adam Scott becomes the second Australian golfer to be ranked as the world’s best golfer.
Today is a proud moment for Australian golf as Adam Scott has officially overtaken Tiger Woods as the world’s number one golfer.
Not since Greg Norman held the number one position in 1997 has an Australian climbed to the top of the rankings, and despite several attempts to overtake Woods this year, Scott is now officially number one.
Scott admitted to being a little out of match practice after his poor showing at The PLAYERS Championship last week and has decided to tee it up at the PGA Tour’s Crowne Plaza Invitational this week.
It will be his first outing as the world’s number one ranked golfer but his focus will be firmly on next month’s major tournament; the 2014 US Open to be held at Pinehurst from June 12.
