3Links Golf launch TaylorMade Order of Merit for club golfers
TaylorMade, in partnership with 3 Links Golf, launches its 2019 Order of Merit providing golfers the chance to win their way to the series final in Las Vegas.
Media release
3 Links Golf, Australia’s leading golf event management company, has launched its 2019 Order of Merit – one of the largest amateur golf challenges ever run in Australia.
Open to all amateur golfers with official Golf Australia handicaps, participation is not specific to any one club or competition.
So, whether entry is via one of the 15 rounds of the 3 Links Golf Challenge Series events which are held on some of Australia’s most desirable golf courses or independently via a local club competition, participants have the chance to submit their 10 best rounds to be in the running to qualify for the Order of Merit final in Las Vegas, USA.
The Prize
The qualifiers for the Order of Merit final not only get bragging rights for the next 12 months, they also get the opportunity to compete in the final to be held in Las Vegas in February, 2020. Qualifiers will receive:
- Economy return flights to Las Vegas
- 3 nights’ accommodation
- Welcome and presentation functions
- Entry into the all important final round of golf
Depending on the number of participants in each grade there will be multiple qualifiers via the Order of Merit – all of whom will win their way to the Order of Merit final.
Put simply, for every 100 players in a category there will be an Order of Merit qualifier.
For example, if there are 120 players in Male A Grade, then the player who comes first on the Order of Merit for that Grade will win. If there are 550 Female B Grade players, there will be 5 winners! Simply, the more players, the more winners (so tell your friends – the more the merrier and the better your chances of going!)
How Does It Work
Here is a brief run down of how the Order of Merit works with further information available via 3linksgolf.com.au:
- Every golfer is charged a one-off fee of $99 to participate in the Order of Merit series
- You must have a current Golf Australia handicap
- Your best 10 competition rounds (as reference by your handicap record) recorded between 1st January 2019 and 31st December 2019 count.
- You must play at least 10 competition rounds and have them recorded on your handicap history.
- You can play lots more – but only the 10 best rounds count
- There will be six grades – 3 Male (A, B and C) and 3 Female (A, B and C)
- Grades for Males:
- A Grade: 0 – 12
- B Grade: 12.1 – 19
- C Grade: 19.1+
- Grades for Females:
- A Grade: 0 – 19
- B Grade: 19.1 – 27
- C Grade: 27.1+
- The grade you are competing in is determined by your official handicap at the date of joining.
Registered players in the Order of Merit will receive weekly notification of their position throughout the year as well as more than $500 worth of promotional offers from 3 Links Golf and its partners when joining.
The aim of the 3 Links Order of Merit is simple – encourage more people to play more golf.
By structuring separate grades for male and female players we want to encourage every amateur golfer in the country to get out and enjoy this great game, enjoy the thrill of competition by competing against golfers of similar capabilities and have the experience of playing in a national competition.
