2017 PLAYERS Championship video preview

The always capitalised PLAYERS Championship rolls around this week, a tournament often referred to as the fifth major.

Seven Australians will tee it up for the biggest purse on the golf calendar at TPC Sawgrass this week for the 2017 PLAYERS Championship. Led by world number three and defending champion Jason Day, Australia will also be represented by Adam Scott, Aaron Baddeley, Cameron Smith, Greg Chalmers, Marc Leishman and Rod Pampling.

Dustin Johnson is now fully recovered from his fall that saw him withdraw from The Masters and arrives at Sawgrass as outright favourite. Johnson looked in third gear on his way to recording a second place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship last week to make it three wins, a second and a third place finish in his last five starts.

World number two Rory McIlroy will tee it up with new golf clubs in his bag after after inking a deal with TaylorMade during the week.

With 111 of the PGA Tour winners in the field including the top-30 from the FedEx Cup rankings, this is the one tournament outside the majors the players seem to relish winning.
