1904 match play video featuring two of the Great Triumvirate
If you love the history of the game of golf you’re going to love this video from 1904.
This video captures the match between Harry Vardon and James Braid in Edinburgh in 1904. Vardon and Braid were two of the three golfers who were known as the Great Triumvirate.
John Henry Taylor made up the famous threesome of British golfers who combined to win The Open Championship 16 out of 21 times between 1894 and 1914.
The style and speed at which these guys play is fascinating, and features the long forgotten, long banned stymie manoeuvre.
A wonderful find courtesy of Geoff Shackleford’s website.
