Yelling ‘fore’ optional…according to NY court ruling
Here is a golf story that you may have missed in the Christmas mayhem.
A New York State court has ruled that golfers who fail to yell ‘fore’ are not liable for damage. A golfer was hit in the eye when his friend shanked a shot into the eye of his playing partner. this permanently impaired his vision and his career as a neurologist was over.
He sued his ‘friend’ for damages but lost as the judges ruled that the etiquette of yelling fore cannot be legally applied to shots which don’t go in the right direction.
Aussie Golfer does not condone this sort of behaviour, nor do we condone shanks. So hit them straight please and yell ‘fore’!
