WGC – Bridgestone Invitational
We have 12 Aussies lined up for this week’s World (but always held in the USA) Golf Championship. Titled the Bridgestone Invitational, Geoff Ogilvy is looking at winning his 3rd and these others Aussies are looking at winning their first: Adam Scott, Robert Allenby, Stuart Appleby, Aaron Baddeley, Richard Green, Peter Lonard, Rod Pampling, Nick O’Hern, Brendan Jones, Craig Parry and Scott Strange.
In other Australian golf news this week:
- Stephen Leaney has an inner ear infection and is probably out for the rest of the year. He’s experiencing dizzy spells when he turns his head which is a problem with the vestibular system (pictured) which sits just inside our ears. It acts like 3-dimensional spirit level to enable us to know which way we are oriented. Probably not a nice thing to have go wrong.
- The Australian Open has been confirmed for Sydney until 2015.
- Greg Norman is not playing in the US PGA Championship this year despite being granted a wild card but he is playing the Johnnie Walker Classic at The Vines in Perth next year.
