VIDEO / Xander Schauffele wins WGC-HSBC Champions in China
American Xander Schauffele has picked up the biggest win of his short career with a dramatic win at the WGC-HSBC Champions event in China.
Xander Schauffele came out of the same amateur golf class as Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas but he’s now beginning to emerge out of their shadow after claiming the WGC-HSBC Champions trophy.
One hole of sudden-death playoff was required to separate Schauffele and fellow American Tony Finau after both players birdied the final hole to finish at 14-under par; three strokes ahead of Justin Rose in third place who made bogey at the 18th after finding the water (and Schauffele’s golf ball).
Jason Day finished as a the leading Australian, ten strokes behind Finau and Schauffele at 4-under par.
