Two Australians Among the Six Automatic Qualifiers for 2024 Presidents Cup

Adam Scott and Jason Day, two of Australia’s most accomplished golfers, have secured their places in the International Presidents Cup team for the 2024 edition.

Both players earned automatic qualification following the conclusion of the BMW Championship, the final event in the qualification period. The International team, captained by Mike Weir, will compete against the United States from September 27 to 30 at Royal Montreal Golf Club.

Adam Scott will be making his 11th consecutive appearance in the Presidents Cup, the most of any player from the International team.

Scott’s consistent performance throughout the season along with a great second-place finish at the BMW Championship solidified his place in the team, continuing a streak that began in 2003. Jason Day, another veteran of this event now, also secured his spot, reflecting a return to form after a period of injury setbacks.

The six automatic qualifiers for the International team are:

  1. Hideki Matsuyama (Japan)
  2. Sungjae Im (South Korea)
  3. Adam Scott (Australia)
  4. Tom Kim (South Korea)
  5. Jason Day (Australia)
  6. Byeong Hun An (South Korea)

For the US team, the six automatic qualifiers, under the captaincy of Jim Furyk, are:

  1. Scottie Scheffler
  2. Xander Schauffele
  3. Collin Morikawa
  4. Wyndham Clark
  5. Patrick Cantlay
  6. Sahith Theegala

Australian golfers Cam Davis and Min Woo Lee currently sit 8th and 9th on the Presidents cup standings but it now lies in the hands of the team captains to make their choices. The remaining six spots on each team will be determined by the captains’ picks, which will be announced after the Tour Championship.
