Snedeker wins FedEx Cup Trophy + $10million
Brandt Snedeker beat the likes of McIlroy and Woods to become the fifth winner of the FedEx Cup.
Brandt Snedeker just claimed the biggest victory of his career. The 31-year old from Nashville took out the Tour Championship by three shots from Justin Rose to claim the $10million bonus for winning the FedEx Cup. See video highlights in the video above.
All eyes were on McIlroy for the year ending tournament at the East Lake Golf Club in Georgia given he had won the past two FedEx Cup playoffs, but Snedeker’s victory wasn’t exactly a surprise. He was the fifth placed golfer in the FedEx Cup rankings going into the tournament having finished runner-up at the Barclays event and finished sixth at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
The two Australians in the tournament, Adam Scott and John Senden had a fairly lacklustre finish. They finished 19th and 26th respectively to finish well away from Brandt Snedeker.<
Snedeker is one of the most liked American golfers on tour and a favourite of ours here at Aussie Golfer. The victory sees him ranked in the world’s Top-10 golfers for the first time in his career and walks away from East Lake with $11.44 million. Not a bad week.
Snedeker is set for another big week. He was named Davis Love’s captain’s picks for the Ryder Cup that begins on Friday at Medinah. It was a good choice at the time, and looks even better now.
