Seven Australian golf courses in Golf Magazine’s Top-100

Golf Magazine have published their biennial list of the world’s best golf courses with seven Australian courses featuring on the list.

Seven Australian golf courses are ranked in Golf Magazine’s 2017 list of the world’s best golf courses that is topped once again by Pine Valley in New Jersey.

Cypress Point, St Andrews Old Course, Royal Country Down and Augusta National ,make up the top-5 best golf courses in the world according to the judges at Golf.com with Australia’s fhighest ranked course, Royal Melbourne (West) coming in at number 11.

Melbourne sandbelt’s Kingston Heath golf course is Australia’s next best on the list at number 20. The other five Australian golf courses to feature are Barnbougle Dunes (38), New South Wales (43), Ellerston (62), Cape Wickham (72) and Barnbougle Lost Farm (90).

New Zealand has two golf courses on the list; the very new, Tom Doak designed Tara Iti jumped into 29th on its debut and Cape Kidnappers was ranked in 44th spot.

Perhaps the only obvious Australian golf courses missing from the list is Royal Melbourne’s East course.
