2012 FedEx Cup: McIlroy wins again as two Aussies make Tour Championship

Rory McIlroy asserts his dominance by winning the BMW Championship.

McIlroy was simply superb once more, cementing his place as the number one ranked golfer going into the final FedEx Cup event and as the best golfer in the world. He produced near flawless golf to stave off one of the best looking leaderboards in recent tournament golf memory.

Lee Westwood, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods all finished in behind McIlroy whose final round 67 was the third best round of the day.

Only two Aussies have made it to the 30-man FedEx Cup finale, The Tour Championship to be held at East Lake in two weeks time.

Scott was always going to be part of the field thanks to some solid early rounds. He looked the goods on Saturday courtesy of a 6-under par 66 and finished in a tie for sixth place, four shots behind McIlroy. If only his long putter would work, he would have easily been challenging McIlroy late on Sunday.

Senden scraped into the Top-30 despite a poor showing at Crooked Stick. He finished with 4 bogies and a double bogey over the final six holes to limp into the season ending event. Luckily for Sendo all players have a week off before competing for the FedEx Cup trophy and the $10 million prize.

  • Great to have 2 Aussies make it through. Was hoping Greg Chalmers might sneak through as well as he’s had a good year and would have deserved his place in the elite field.
