Rory McIlroy gets lucky and bounces a drive off the rocks in Dubai: video
The closing hole at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai is a strange beast. Splitting the fairway is a small creek that forces the golfer to think twice about smashing driver.
The professionals don’t seem to mind too much though and more often than not, they just smash driver down the middle. As Rory McIlroy did yesterday on the closing hole of the closing European Tour event of the year, the DP World Tour Championship.
Why play safe for the green stuff when you can smash a drive off a rock in the middle of the fairway?
McIlroy didn’t make the most of his fortunate bounce and made par. He finished in a tie for second place, two strokes behind winner Henrik Stenson.
