Pro V1’s will still be sold in Australia

Last week news broke about the ruling that Titleist had violated patents owned by Callaway when making the Pro V1 golf ball and it will no longer be sold past January 1, 2009.

According to statement issued to the PGA of Australia from Titleist:

“…the court ruling does not apply outside the United States. Golfers can play and purchase Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls with confidence now and after January 1, 2009. All Pro V1 golf balls conform to USGA and R&A rules and are legal for play and purchase.

…If the injunction in the United States is not put on hold, Tour events in the United States will be supplied with converted Pro V1 models that are outside of the scope of the patents in question or New 2009 Pro V1 golf balls. The performance and quality of the converted products is indistinguishable from the current models and have been Tour validated.”

There you have it. If you love the ball it’ll still be sold in Australia next year. Along with their brand new Pro V1 release. Free of any patent violations.
