Monday Trivia, News and Answers

Ok, first up two announcements. Firstly, our featured player last weekend Ryan Haller finished tied for 26th at the Moonah Classic after a nice 2-under final round and secondly, Tiger Woods won the World Matchplay Championships. Put your hands up if you were surprised about Tiger’s win? Anyone? Anyone? Ok, we move on.

Last week’s trivia question asked what course has held the second most number of British Open’s? Well here they ALL are:St Andrews – 27

Prestwick – 24

Muirfield – 15

Sandwich – 13

Hoylake – 11

Royal Lytham – 10

Royal Birkdale – 8

Royal Troon – 8

Musselburgh – 6

Carnoustie – 7

Turnberry – 3

Deal – 2

Royal Portrush and Prince’s – 1

So the answer is Prestwick with 24 Open’s. Last used to host the Open in 1925! And we’re back at Royal Birkdale this year if anyone wants to know. You can probably get directions through googlemaps.com.

How about this question this week which was posed to me recently:

You hit off on a par 3 into the trees and declare you are going to hit a provisional ball which you play onto the fringe of the green. After chipping it onto the green assuming the first ball is lost, you find your first ball in the hole after it must have hit a tree and bounced into the hole. What’s the ruling?
