McIlroy smashes a 436-yard drive at Scottish Open: video
This is what you get when you mix in hard, downwind, links golf with modern technology, modern golf balls and one of the world’s best golfers. A 436-yard drive.
Rory McIlroy surprised everyone, including the group in front of him when he drove the green at the 436-yard (399 metre) par-4 13th hole at Royal Aberdeen during his first round of the Scottish Open yesterday.
McIlroy the smashed his eagle putt way past the holoe but then nailed the birdie putt on his way to a 7-under par 64 to lead the field by a shot.
He jokingly told Ian Poulter, who was in the group ahead on the green, that he hit 3-wood.
