Kevin Na breaks record for total length of putts made in PGA Tour tournament
The climax to the Shriners Hospital for Children Open was a dramatic one with Kevin Na and Patrick Cantlay duelling it out in a playoff.
Na who had never won a playoff in three previous attempts got the better of Cantlay when he holed 4-footer for part on the second playoff hole.
And it was Na’s putting that got him into the playoff in the first place.
Na made up an incredible +14.263 strokes on the field (Strokes Gained Putting) with the short stick in Las Vegas and in doing so set a new 72-hole record for the total distance of putts made.
Na closed out his final round with a total of 558 feet and 11-inches of putts (from 108 putts), pipping the previous record of 551 feet, 2 inches set by Ben Martin in 2005.
So his holed out average was nearly 5.58 feet per putt!
