Justin Rose new world number 1 after losing playoff to Keegan Bradley: video highlights

Keegan Bradley won the BMW Championship in a playoff but Justin Rose is now the new world’s number one golfer.

A rain-soaked BMW Championship finally finished on Monday but it wasn’t after some late drama which saw Keegan Bradley beat Justin Rose in a playoff.

Rose led the field going into the final round but found himself a shot behind Bradley at the 17th tee. Bradley found the corporate tent on the final hole and made bogey while Rose birdied the 17th. Suddenly it was Rose in the box seat.

But Rose three-putted the final hole to fall back into a tie with Bradley. The sudden-death playoff needed just the single hole when Rose once again three-putted from the fringe the 18th for a bogey. Bradley managed par to claim his first victory in over six years.

Bradley’s win comes after years of battling his golf game which included a change from the anchoring putting method after the new rules were applied in early 2016.

Rose’s defeat was sweetened somewhat with the news that he becomes the fourth Englishman to rise to the top of the world golf rankings (Nick Faldo, Luke Donald and Lee Westwood) and displaces Dustin Johnson who has been the top-ranked golfer since February 2015.
