Jeffrey Guan loses sight in left eye, vows to be back
Australian golfer Jeffrey Guan faces an uncertain recovery after a severe eye injury sustained during a pro-am event, jeopardizing his promising career.
Jeffrey Guan, one of Australia’s promising young golfers, has shared a harrowing account of the eye injury that has derailed his career and left him permanently blind in his left eye.
Guan sustained the injury during a pro-am event last month when he was struck by a golf ball, resulting in a severe fracture to his eye socket and cheekbone.
In his statement posted as part of an article at Golf Australia, Guan recounts the distressing moments following the accident, describing the “instant ringing and pain” and his subsequent rush to the hospital.
As I turned towards the cart to put my club away, that was when I was struck.
The instant ringing and pain rushed to my head, and I dropped to the ground. Voices sounded pretty muffled, and the next thing I knew, I was in an ambulance being transported to a hospital with skin patches containing high doses of Fentanyl.
Despite the setback, Guan expressed gratitude for the support he’s received and affirmed his determination to overcome this ordeal.
